Global Esports:
In a surprising move ahead of the 2026 VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) season, G2 Esports has made a key roster change, removing Jonah ‘JonahP’ Pulice and adding Andrej ‘Babybay’ Francisty to its starting lineup. The change was confirmed by G2’s IGL (in-game leader) Jacob ‘Valyn’ Batio as part of the team’s preparations for upcoming international competition.
What Changed in G2’s VALORANT Roster
JonahP, a long-standing member of the G2 VALORANT roster, was moved to the inactive list in a decision described by team leadership as “in-the-moment,” meaning it came somewhat unexpectedly during the offseason. With little time for JonahP to secure a new team, the change has drawn attention from fans and analysts alike.
In his place, G2 Esports has elevated veteran player Babybay to the starting roster. Babybay previously served as a stand-in during the 2025 season — filling in for Nathan ‘leaf’ Orf and helping the team perform strongly in key events.
Team Leadership on the Change
Valyn explained that the decision was driven by G2’s desire to explore new dynamics and unlock better mental synergy within the squad. He noted that Babybay brought a unique perspective and strong mentality, which the team believes could improve performance in high-pressure situations.
Babybay also commented on his return, saying his role will focus on supporting team focus and strengthening mental resilience, especially during intense tournament play. His experience and leadership — alongside his mechanical skill with various agents — are seen as assets as G2 aims for its first major international trophy.
Looking Ahead to VCT Americas Kickoff
With this roster update complete, G2 Esports will begin its 2026 VCT campaign at the Americas Kickoff event. The team qualified for Champions Paris 2025 and earned its place in the second round of the triple-elimination bracket, where it will face the winner of LEVIATÁN vs. 100 Thieves in a best-of-three matchup.
This rapid adjustment reflects G2’s proactive approach to shaping its competitive future and underscores the dynamic nature of esports — where performance, team chemistry, and strategic decisions evolve quickly between seasons.
Fans will be watching closely to see how Babybay’s integration influences G2’s gameplay and results throughout the 2026 VALORANT season.
