Hung “Karsa” Hau-hsuan, one of the most respected junglers in League of Legends history, has officially announced his retirement from professional esports, bringing an emotional end to an 11-year-long career at the highest level of competition.
In a heartfelt farewell video shared with fans, Karsa confirmed that while his journey as a professional player has ended, he plans to continue moving forward with a new identity.
“Today, I’m stopping here. Karsa, the player, is saying goodbye. But I’ll continue forward with a new identity,” he said.
A Journey That Defined an Era
Karsa began his professional career in 2015 with Flash Wolves, a period he described as the happiest chapter of his career. Reflecting on his early days, he shared how quickly time passed in the competitive scene.
“Sometimes when I close my eyes, I can still clearly see the moment I first came to try out for Flash Wolves. Match after match, day after day — before I even realized it, 11 years had passed,” Karsa said.
Following his success with Flash Wolves, Karsa went on to compete for several top-tier teams, including Royal Never Give Up (RNG), CTBC Flying Oysters, and PSG Talon.
Career Highs and Historic Achievements
Among his most notable accomplishments were winning the LPL Spring and Summer titles in 2018 and lifting the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) trophy in 2018 with RNG. These victories cemented his reputation as one of the best junglers of his generation.
However, Karsa’s career was not without challenges.
Struggles, Growth, and Mental Resilience
During his time with PSG Talon, Karsa admitted he struggled to perform at the level he expected from himself. Feeling unable to carry the team as envisioned, he made the difficult decision to step aside for the good of the squad.
The period took a toll on him mentally, leading him to seek professional therapy to cope with the pressure and emotional strain. Despite the difficulties, he credited former PSG Talon coach Cheng “CorGi” Pin-Lun for helping him regain confidence and improve his gameplay.
A Farewell Filled With Gratitude
Reflecting on his journey, Karsa expressed deep appreciation for the experiences League of Legends gave him.
“Over these 11 years, there were peaks and there were lows. There were many painful moments, and also many moments of joy. I truly enjoyed every moment on stage — the thrill of competition, the roar of the crowd, and the joy that League of Legends brought me.”
“Today, I’m stopping here. Karsa, the player, is saying goodbye,” he concluded.
Community Reaction and What’s Next
The announcement sparked an emotional response from the League of Legends community, with fans and fellow players praising Karsa as one of the greatest junglers of all time. One fan wrote on Reddit, “Goodbye, Taiwan’s strongest jungler.”
While Karsa has not confirmed his long-term plans, he revealed that he intends to stream more frequently and stay connected with his community. His future role within the League of Legends ecosystem remains open, but his legacy as a competitor is firmly secured.
Karsa’s retirement marks the end of an era, leaving behind a career defined by excellence, resilience, and lasting impact on the global League of Legends scene.
